How much do you know about polycarboxylate superplasticizer? What are its main features? Let’s explore it together today.
Polycarboxylate superplasticizer is a general term for a series of polymers with specific molecular structure and properties, and is widely used as a superplasticizer. Polycarboxylate high-performance superplasticizers have many advantages, such as high water reduction, low shrinkage, chemical structure modification, and pollution-free synthesis process, making them the most widely used concrete superplasticizers today.
Polycarboxylate superplasticizer has the following features:
1.Improves the mechanical properties of concrete by increasing its density as a result of effective water reduction, thereby improving its compressive, flexural, and tensile strength.
2.Excellent plasticizing performance by effectively blocking the secondary aggregation between cement particles due to steric hindrance of the extended polymer side chains. This gives the polycarboxylate superplasticizer high dispersing ability, which can be maintained for a long time, achieving excellent plasticizing performance of concrete mixtures.
3.Effectively improves the durability of concrete. It reduces the alkali-aggregate reaction of concrete and improves its freeze-thaw resistance.
4.Good water-reducing performance. With low dosage (generally 0.2%-0.3%, equivalent to the mass ratio of dry base to cement), polycarboxylate superplasticizer exhibits excellent water-reducing performance, especially in high-grade concrete (above C50), and the maximum water reduction rate can reach 40%.
5.Dimensional stability. The addition of polycarboxylate superplasticizer can effectively improve the shrinkage and creep properties of concrete, resulting in good dimensional stability and reduced the risk of cracking.
6.Good early strength and enhancement effect. Under the same conditions, the early strength and enhancement effect of concrete admixtured with polycarboxylate superplasticizer are higher than other types of superplasticizers.
7.Excellent water retention performance. The bleeding of concrete admixtured with polycarboxylate superplasticizer is significantly lower than that of ordinary concrete, with no segregation, making construction work easier to carry out.
